What is Elmiron®?

Elmiron® is the brand name for pentosan polysulfate sodium, a popular medication commonly prescribed to treat bladder pain associated with Interstitial Cystitis.
It was approved by the FDA in 1996 as the only oral medication designed to treat this condition.
Millions of people take it every day, and its manufacturer, Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson), continues to earn significant profits from its use.
